It is very impressive with technology these days. We quite often fail to remember students who have special needs. When we begin to plan our lessons we fail to remember that we have to plan our lessons not only for the normal and average students but the special needs as well. Watching the video "Enabling Dreams" made me realize how important technology is today. I never knew how technology would be beneficial. I used to be one of those people who didn't really care for technology. My daughter who is 11 years old has all these different types of gadgets because her father is one who believes or shall I say loves all these new and improved technology. I see it as a positive thing when it comes to education for my daughter. Now watching the video, I believe that it is great for people with special needs. What will they come up with next?
My main reason for teaching the Chamoru language is because of the fact that we are losing out on preserving the language for the future generations to come. Being that I am 28 years old, I have seen so many people my age, some older and definitely many younger generations not being able to speak nor understand the language. Teaching in the classrooms using technology today will be beneficial to motivate students to learn the language. Using A/A technology would definitely help the special needs to complete their assignments and comprehend what is being taught. As a teacher, I would like to teach my lessons using the projector and through power point presentations. In my lessons I would probably have students complete their assignments by using computers, video, cameras, etc. Revising my lessons to accommodate the special needs students would probably be to lessen the assignments or if anything by giving them extra time to complete their assignments. Assessing them on the other hand would probably be a bit difficult for me. I would probably have to evaluate them on the ability to at least show a little of their work in any form of technology.
